5 Monsoon Cycle Care Tips
Published: November 2025 | Reading time: 5 minutes
Monsoon season in Tumkur brings heavy rains that can damage your cycle if not properly cared for. Follow these 5 essential tips to protect your bike during the rainy months.
1. Dry Your Cycle After Every Ride
After riding in the rain, always dry your cycle thoroughly. Use a clean cloth to wipe down the frame, chain, and all metal parts. Pay special attention to the chain, as water can cause rust quickly. Leave your cycle in a well-ventilated area to air dry completely.
2. Apply Rust Protection
Apply a rust protection spray or oil to all metal parts, especially the chain, bolts, and frame joints. At Raja Cycle Mart, we recommend using a quality chain lube that repels water. Reapply every 2-3 weeks during monsoon season.
3. Check and Clean Brakes Regularly
Wet roads reduce braking efficiency. Clean your brake pads and rims regularly to remove mud and debris. If your brakes feel spongy or less responsive, bring your cycle to our shop for a quick brake adjustment.
4. Store Indoors or Under Cover
Never leave your cycle exposed to rain. Store it indoors or under a covered area. If you must keep it outside, use a waterproof bike cover. This prevents water from pooling in the frame and rusting the chain.
5. Watch Your Tyres
Wet roads are slippery and hide sharp debris. Check your tyres for cuts or glass shards after every ride. Slightly lowering your tyre pressure (by 5-10 PSI) can also give you better grip on wet surfaces.
Don't let the rain stop you!
